Hello, my name is Mark Spofforth, and this is a blog that is dedicated towards documenting my progress throughout the course of my Film Studies coursework.
For my coursework, I have decided to make a short film. A short film is defined as any motion picture that is not long enough to be considered a feature film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, assert that short films eligible for an Oscar nomination must be 40 minutes long or less.
Short films notoriously offer armature filmmakers an opportunity to collaborate in small scale projects, which are then screened at various festivals - celebrating their achievements. Many directors and Actors gain much notoriety from prestigious events. Such festivals include: Sundance, Cannes, Berlin and Venice film festival.
